Lund University represents PollinERA on the Swedish national news programme Aktuellt

On June 25, 2024, Maj Rundlöf of Lund University gave an interview to Aktuellt, Sweden’s national news programme. She talked about the importance of bumblebees, the threats they face, and what the public can do to support pollinator conservation.

The segment focused on the decline of bumblebee populations in Sweden, emphasising the ecological and agricultural consequences of pollinator loss. Maj Rundlöf, who leads Work Package 4 (Monitoring and Risk Indicators) in PollinERA, highlighted how pesticide use, habitat loss, and limited food sources are putting pollinators, particularly bumblebees, at risk. The program also mentioned the role of ongoing research across Europe, including the work carried out in PollinERA.

Lastly, the segment included a call to action for the general public. Rundlöf shared three practical steps that point out that even minor adjustments can help bumblebee numbers, highlighting how citizens can help pollinators.
