On 2 December 2024, the PollinERA project was presented at the Fourth Stakeholders Forum Workshop of the EU project RATION.
At the forum, PollinERA coordinator Prof. Christopher J. Topping (SESS, Aarhus University) was invited to introduce the project’s key project tasks, such as sources and routes of exposure across pollinator taxa, pollinator sensitivity to pesticide mixtures, and chronic testing methods. Our coordinator also presented one of the project’s main goals – the development of a One System Framework for risk assessment and policy evaluation including an international long-term monitoring scheme for pollinators and pesticides.
Take a look at the online meeting agenda and our introductory presentation to learn more about the project.
About RATION
The RATION project (Risk Assessment Innovation for Low-Risk Pesticides), funded by the European Commission, addresses pressing problems at EU level about the regulatory constraints that obstruct the full potential and market reach of Low-Risk Pesticides (LRP). These include plant extracts, semiochemicals like pheromones, microbial solutions (e.g., microbial consortia, phages), and ds-RNA pesticides.
The project’s aim is to develop a novel, concrete and research-based risk assessment scheme, supported by the necessary guidance on methods and tools, tailored to the specific characteristics of established and emerging LRP solutions. PollinERA complements RATION by assessing the impacts of pesticide use on pollinators, providing critical insights into pesticide exposure and ecological risks.
