PollinERA publishes new paper in the Environmental Science & Technology

PollinERA has released a new scientific publication in the journal Environmental Science & Technology (ACS Publications), examining key limitations in how chemical safety is currently assessed and regulated.

Written by PollinERA coordinator Christopher John Topping, together with Michael Norton, Jörn Wogram, and project consortium member Johan Axelman, the paper reflects on why increasingly precise risk assessment methods can still fall short in capturing real-world environmental impacts.

The authors introduce the concept of the “reductionist trap” and outline a systems-based approach that places ecosystem limits and cumulative impacts at the centre of chemical regulation.
