PollinERA's recap of IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025

From 9-15 October, Abu Dhabi hosted the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025, joined by more than 10,000 participants in discussions to set the course of conservation actions for the years to come.

The Congress marked its historic first: The World Summit of Indigenous Peoples and Nature. The gathering placed Indigenous leadership and knowledge at the heart of the gathering, recognising the crucial role in protecting the planet.

The discussions centred on five major themes:

  • Scaling Up resilient conservation action
  • Reducing climate overshoot risks
  • Delivering on equity
  • Transitioning to nature-positive economies and societies
  • Disruptive innovation and leadership for conservation

The Congress served as a vital platform to raise ambition and scale up solutions that make conservation efforts more effective, inclusive and fair. One of the main outcomes was the adoption of a 20-Year Strategic Vision and the adoption of a new programme for the next four years.
